Biography :

Photography has always been a passion of Roland Giuseppelli. In 1997 he obtained a bachelor’s degree in applied Arts. However, after graduation, he decided to change direction. Indeed, he started a career as part of Air France Company. Concurrently, he has been building on a particular interest in beautiful shapes as well as an aesthetic taste. Ever since he was a child, he has been constantly exercising his photographic gaze, with a special attention to his surroundings. This is the reason why, five years ago, he decided to take the plunge and to present his Artworks. His photographic statement combines different elements inspired by minimalism, chance, the daily routine and the anecdotal with a preference for liquidity, particularly water in its different states. His vision aims at freezing what is in perpetual movement which is, in his opinion, the reason why we miss all the recurrent elements we consider insignificant even though they are so unique. Through his photographs, he emphasizes all those instants which seem similar to one another because that is how we see them, trapped in our daily routine.

Artistic Statement :

Water and liquidity, like morning dews leave marks on plants, are at the core of photographer Roland Giusepplli’s artistic statement. In order to develop his approach, he integrated the essential notion of movement to it; waves, bursting and foam became his main subjects. As a result, Roland Giusepelli gets back to the very essence of photography: the search for balance between light and shadow. His approach is infinite and spontaneous altogether, yet deeply rooted in reality. He is constantly on the lookout for what is lying under the surface. His Artworks are like a mirror in which everybody can find the Artist and himself/herself. Roland Giusepelli’s photography is an ever moving cycle that invites the audience to go beyond the limits of what is understandable to get closer to what is not understandable.
